Communication Center
The
District
Police
Communications
Center is staffed 24 hours a day,
7 days a week by California P.O.S.T. certified dispatchers. All District
Police dispatchers have attended and completed a P.O.S.T. Certified
Emergency Dispatcher Course. Our dispatchers also undergo additional
training set by P.O.S.T. for all California Emergency Dispatchers.
District Police dispatchers are the initial contact
from the public for the District Police Department. Dispatchers monitor
incoming telephone calls and Police radio communications from District
Police personnel and other surrounding agencies.
District Police dispatchers receive emergency calls
for Fire, Medical and Police incidents that require immediate response
from District Police Officers. Dispatchers also receive service calls on
campus from faculty and students that include room unlocks, vehicle battery jumps, vehicle unlocks and more…
The
District
Police
Communications
Center is part of the San Diego
Regional Communications System (RCS) which allows the dispatchers and
Police Officers to monitor and directly communicate with other agencies
in the San Diego Region regarding Police, Medical or Fire.
District Police dispatchers also have the
capability of utilizing various Criminal Justice Databases that
significantly assist District Police Officers with their vehicle traffic
stops and criminal investigations. |
